MDS210 – Target Audience – Main Page

You are currently in Lesson 1 of the Marketing for Direct Sellers course. This is a 5-session course meant to be taken in sequence so that you can build a strong foundation for your marketing plan. Before we get started, I wanted to make sure to let you know what you can expect from this course and the ones following.

There are 5 classes in the course, each one deals with a different aspect of building an ad. Though it may seem like all you need to know to create an ad is the process, what to say, and what pictures to use, there is so much more preparation that goes into it. It wouldn’t have been hard for me to design a class that walked you through building an ad in Facebook and sent you on your way. That would have been easy, and taken much less time – but I would have been doing you a disservice.

Too many small business owners waste their money on ads and marketing campaigns because their starting line is the creation of the ad. Before you can have a successful ad or Facebook business, there are certain things that you need to have in place to ensure that your efforts are well spent.

Preparation

During the preparation phase of this course, you will learn:

  • Who is your target audience?
  • How to design your business page for maximum impact
  • How to create the appropriate imagery and copy for your target audience

These are all crucial steps to ensuring when you get to the part where you make the ad, that you aren’t just creating a money pit.

Creation

Once that’s done, the next step is to actually create the ad. This is the fun part. We’ll use everything we learned in the last 3 lessons to create an ad for our business. For the purposes of this training, we’ll be using an image based ad, but you’ll also learn about the other types and what they’re used for.

Troubleshooting

Lastly, no campaign is perfect. In fact, your first ad has the same likelihood of being a success as it does of not working at all. Your first ad is usually a test. If it works out, then perfect, no problem. But chances are you are going to find that it may not be functioning exactly as you’d hoped, so you’ll need to go back to the drawing board a few times so that you can troubleshoot the campaign. This training will show you all about how to do that.

Once you’re done with this training, you will feel so much more confident in your online marketing strategy!

What this course can’t do

I stand by this training 100%. If you follow the instructions, do the exercises, and engage in the testing, you will know what you’re doing as far as ads go. But ads alone and social media alone aren’t enough to sell your product. You can bring every user in Facebook to your group or business page to buy, but without having a solid and strong online community to support this influx of people, you’ll soon find your business struggling again. Much like dietary supplements, this course is best taken using a holistic approach. While you are working on ads, make sure you are using what you learn from the Target Audience worksheet to continue to engage your VIP community.

When you combine a winning ad with a strong community, there is no reason why you can’t see the same success that hundreds of other retailers have! So lets get started!
